October 4, 2011 -- The Emporia State volleyball needed 21 total ties and ten lead changes, but they over Southwest Baptist at home on Dig for the Cure night in a 3-0 sweep. The Hornets had seven blocks as a team and racked up 66 digs to prevent SBU from scoring in the 25-22, 25-20 and 25-20 win.
Katie Deutschmann came within one dig of a triple double for the second time this season as she had 10 kills, 24 assists and nine digs while hitting .333 on the night. Paige Vanderpool also finished with a double-double as she racked up ten kills to go along with 15 digs. Brianna Kaiser had her third double-double in five matches finishing with 11 kills and 11 digs. Meg Schwartz had 11 digs through one set and finished with 18 on the evening.
Amanda Gerety had 20 assists and added seven digs. Courtney Haring hit .312 with seven kills and added three blocks.
ESU will return to action on Oct. 7 when they travel to Pittsburg State for a scheduled 7 p.m. from Pittsburg, Kan.
