ESU using strong front line to earn win

November 11, 2011 -- The Emporia State Volleyball team overcame two set points to earn a 3-0 sweep of Fort Hays State. ESU got nine blocks and hit .243 in the 25-20, 26-24 and 26-24 victory.

ESU fell behind the Tigers 24-23 in the both the second and third set, but battled back to win both sets 26-24 in extra points.

Katie Deutschmann led the way for the Hornets with a double-double with 11 kills and 19 assists hitting a match best .647. Paige Vanderpool also added a double-double with 11 kills and 13 digs hitting .346 for the night. Courtney Haring had five kills and added five blocks for the ESU defense.

Amanda Gerety had 27 assists while Meg Schwartz had 21 digs to lead the Hornets.

ESU will face #4 Washburn tomorrow night at 7 p.m. from W. L. White Auditorium. It will be black out night as all fans are encouraged to wear black.
