October 21, 2011 -- The Emporia State volleyball team got 12 total blocks and had three double-doubles as they defeated Fort Hays State 3-1 on the road. The Hornets had four double-figure diggers in the 25-23, 25-18, 17-25 and 25-16 victory.
Paige Vanderpool had 16 kills and 12 digs as she netted a double-double. Katie Deutschmann was two kills away from her second triple double with eight kills, 23 assists and 16 digs. Amanda Gerety insured that both ESU setter would have a double-double with 24 assists and 13 digs. Morgan Buckner hit a match high .407 with 11 kills. Meg Schwartz had 16 digs while Courtney Haring had six blocks.
The Hornets will face Truman when they return home on Oct. 25 for a scheduled 7 p.m. first serve.
