September 23, 2011 -- The Emporia State volleyball team had eight blocks and forced 19 attack errors as they defeated Missouri Western in a sweep. The Hornets also added five service aces as they took the match 25-17, 25-20 and 25-17.

Katie Deutschmann had her third straight double-double as she finished with 10 kills and 21 assists to pace the Hornets while hitting .333. Carly Spicer hit a match high .545 while adding six kills and two blocks to the Hornet attack. Paige Vanderpool added eight kills to go along with 13 digs.

Brianna Kaiser also added eight kills and finished with six digs. Amanda Gerety finished with 19 assists and Meg Schwartz pushed her double figure dig streak to 16 matches as she finished with 15 digs. Courtney Haring had a match high four blocks to go along with six kills while hitting .333 on the night.

ESU will have the week off before returning to action on Sept. 30-Oct. 1 when they travel to the Lady Blues Fall Classic in Topeka, Kan.
