ESU opens season on the road

Emporia State kicks off its 114th season of intercollegiate football with a road contest at Ft. Hays State. The Hornets are 21-4 in season openers over the last 25 years and have opened each of the last ten seasons with a win. ESU has not lost a season opener on the road since falling 43-16 at Ft. Hays State in 1995, the first season under Manny Matsakis. In the 113 years of Emporia State football, the Hornets are 63-45-5 in season openers.
