Jones Park Cross Country Course

Jones Park serves as the home course for ESU Cross Country. Besides serving as the home course for the Running Hornets it also serves as the home course for the Emporia High Spartans. It is home to both the collegiate Emporia State Invitational and the Emporia High School Invitational meets as well as alumni runs, conference and regional meets.

The course has some rolling hills and one long incline. It is mostly grass with the exception of a few asphalt road crossings. The women’s 5K course is one large loop. The men’s 8K course consists of two loops.  The start and finish line are located in the southwest corner of the park.

In 2018, ESU celebrated its legendary tradition of national championships and All-Americans by naming parts of the course after ESU legendary cross country runners who have won national championships or multiple All-American honors.

The 70 acre park is located one mile west of the ESU Campus. Traveling on I-35 take the Merchant Street (Exit 130).  Turn right on 18th and travel approximately 1 mile. Turn right on Lincoln.  At the bottom of the hill on the left will be the entrance to Jones Park. Once you enter the park take the left fork and that will bring you up to the shelter-house and parking.

The address is 2006 Jones Drive, Emporia, KS.
