Landon Nault was a finalist for the Ken B. Jones Award as the top student-athlete in the MIAA. He led the MIAA in rushing and earned Second-Team All-MIAA honors last fall.  He had 1,008 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground for Emporia State and was the first Hornet with over 1,000 yards in over a decade as he helped lead the Hornets to the Corsicana Bowl championship. He finished sixth in Emporia State history with 3,026 career rushing yards, despite playing in an offense that featured the first and second ranked passers in school history along with the most prolific pass catcher in Hornet history. He was a semifinalist for the 2018 William V. Campbell Trophy® by The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF). The award recognizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation.
The Kingfisher, Okla. native graduated with a 3.97 GPA in biology and has been accepted into physician's assistant school at the University of Oklahoma. He is a two-time Google Cloud Academic All-American and a three-time recipient of the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award. He is an MIAA Scholar-Athlete, and is a member of the Tri-Beta Honor Society, Phi Eta Sigma, Honor Society, and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. He has been named to the Dean's Honor Roll and ESU Athletic Director's Honor Roll every year he has been at Emporia State.
Nault has served on the Emporia State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and has been on the Make-A-Wish and Senior Citizen Prom Committees. He has been active in local schools as a Hangin' With a Hornet Mentor and helping out with the Logan Avenue Elementary Field Day.  On campus he has been a Hornet Helper on new student move in day and volunteers with the Hornet Connection program for prospective students.
