Boline played basketball for Emporia State from 1974-78 and was a four-year starter for the Hornets. The Topeka native and Gus Fish Award winner, became just the seventh player in school history to eclipse the 1,000 point barrier and finished with 1,111 points scored. He concluded his playing career as the school’s all-time rebounder with 968 caroms. For his career, he averaged 10.1 points and 8.8 rebounds. He averaged 14.1 points and 11.6 rebounds in helping the Hornets to a District 10 title and a berth in the NAIA Tournament in 1977. He was a two-time All-CSIC?performer, a Pizza Hut All-American, and a three-time All-Academic selection. He was named ESU Student-Athlete of the Year in 1978.
