Norman Rhoads was a world-class competitor in track during his years at Emporia State University. He was a member of relay team that set Kansas State University Relays record in 1933 in the two-mile relay. Rhodes also was a member of the distance medley relay team that set the Texas Relays record. One of his personal highlights came when he was a member of distance medley relay team that established a world record in 1936. Rhoads also established a school and conference record in the 880-yard run.
