Rand was the Hornets first NCAA?Division II women’s national champion winning the shot put in her home ring as ESU?hosted the 1995 national championships. She was a four-time All-American and three-time MIAA?champion in the throws. She was also a US Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches?D-II?All-Academic selection. An earth science major who worked with the NASA JOVE Project while at ESU, she is currently employed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
