Kramer was the head football coach at Emporia State from 1983-94. A native of Austin, Minn., Kramer was named NAIA National Coach of the Year in 1989 when he led Emporia State to the NAIA National Championship game. His record in 12 years as the Hornets coach was 71-54. That is the second highest win total and winning percentage in E-State football history. A consensus All-American lineman at Nebraska, his style of "smash-mouth" football led Emporia State to a school record four straight seasons with eight or more victories. Seven of ESU's fourteen 1,000 yard rushers came during Kramer's tenure.
