Kathy Devine was a premier athlete in the United States in the shot put, discus, and javelin during her collegiate days. Her performances included holding the national record in the shot put four different times. She earned two first-place finishes and one second-place finish at the national championships in the shot put. She still holds school records in the outdoor shot put and javelin as well as the indoor shot put. Devine participated in the 1976 and 1980 U.S. Olympic Trials. She was named an all-American three times. Devine was also a key member of the ESU volleyball squad for four seasons, earning all-CSIC honors each year.
