Dale Burnett was an all-around athlete while attending ESU from 1926-30, competing in football, basketball, and track. A four-year football letterman, Burnett was twice named to the all-conference and all-state teams as a fullback. He was a member of the 1926 squad that finished 7-0-0, Emporia State University’s only undefeated, untied season in history. During his career the Hornet football teams compiled a 26-3-1 record. He led the Hornets in scoring during his junior and senior seasons. Following his collegiate playing days, Burnett went on to star for the New York Giants of the National Football League for 11 years.
