Cindy Stein helped lead the Lady Hornets resurgence into a national power in women's basketball. In 1997 she led ESU to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history. The next season the Lady Hornets went 33-1 with the only loss coming in the NCAA Division II National Championship game against North Dakota. She was named the MIAA and NCAA Division II National Coach of the Year in 1998. She was 65-25 in three years as the Lady Hornets head coach before moving on to the University of Missouri. She currently works in the radio and television industry as a color analyst.
