William Moneypenny devoted his entire life to athletics and education. Moneypenny was a standout offensive lineman between 1914 and 1916. After his playing days, he went on to coach and teach at Hartford and Marion High Schools and Southwestern College, and then spent much of his career as a school administrator. Of the hundreds of football players at ESU between 1900 and 1930, Coach Bill Hargiss chose Moneypenny as one of the top offensive linemen. Moneypenny also was selected to Fran Welch’s "Dream Team" as an offensive tackle and received all-state honors for his football performance. He was later inducted into the nationally acclaimed "Helms Hall of Fame" for his tremendous basketball coaching career at Southwestern College.
