Bill Litchfield was a football and basketball standout during the post-war years of 1945-48. He was an all-conference performer in football for three years and also won all-conference honors in basketball. With Litchfield running at fullback, the Hornets won league championships during the 1947 and ’48 seasons. In 1947 the Hornets won the conference basketball championship and Litchfield was named to the NAIB (now NAIA) all-America Basketball team.
