Bernard Taylor was a football and track & field standout from 1939-42, earning six letters. While lettering four years in football, he also was named co-captain of the 1942 team. In his senior season, he scored 11 touchdowns, averaging 45 yards per carry on those scoring runs. Taylor averaged over 100 yards rushing in each game. He was selected to the Associated Press’ All-Central Conference team as a halfback and earned honorable mention on the Associated Press’ Little All-American team. He was also selected as one of the halfbacks on the Fran Welch "All-Time Dream Team."
