November 18, 2014-The inaugural NCAA Division II Women's Basketball D2SIDA Regional Poll has the Emporia State Lady Hornets ranked #1 in the Central Region.
The Lady Hornets opened the season 2-0 with wins over Texas Woman's University and Midwestern State last weekend. Emporia State is ranked #7 in the WBCA/USA TODAY Sports Preseason National rankings. They are back in action on Saturday, November 22 when they play host to Southwestern College in the home opener from Slaymaker Court in White Auditorium. That will be Throwback Night with the Lady Hornets sporting uniforms with Kansas State Teachers College logos.
The Women's Basketball Division II Media Poll, Sponsored by D2SIDA, is in its first year of existence. This is an unofficial poll and not related to the NCAA Division II Regional Rankings that determine the participants and host school for the NCAA Tournament. Each of the eight regions has two representatives from D2SIDA, the NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors Association, that coordinate the regional committee. The regional poll is released every Monday during the regular season. The national poll has 16 voters – 2 from each region – and will be released on Tuesday during the year.
